Preparing your application
Review the duty statement and selection criteria contained in the Candidate information pack to assess your suitability for the position.
In your application, please include the following information:
Your resume should detail your current and previous work experience, educational background and current contact details.
Address Selection criteria
Tell us how you have the skills, experience and capabilities required to do the position by addressing the selection criteria. This can be done as part of a cover letter or in a separate document, as long as you address each of the selection criteria listed in the Candidate information pack.
When addressing the selection criteria it is important to:
- state clearly and concisely how/why you meet the criterion; and
- provide relevant example(s) to back up your claims.
An easy way to do this is to use the STAR model:
Situation – what was the situation or setting you found yourself in?
Task – what was your role?
Action – what did you do and how did you do it?
Result – what did you achieve and what was the outcome?
Please note, applications that do not address the selection criteria will not be considered.
Your application should include the names and contact details of three referees who can comment on your work performance, preferably from a manager or supervisor.
Right to work in Australia
You must have current and valid work rights in Australia to apply for a position at Notre Dame. If you are invited to attend an interview you should bring one of the following to evidence your legal right to work:
- Australian passport;
- Australian Certificate of Citizenship;
- Visa grant notice that outlines your work entitlements in Australia AND a copy of your international passport;
Depending on the position for which you are applying, a Federal Police Clearance, medical clearance or Working with Children Check may be a requirement before commencing in this position.
