Faculty Board Elections 2024

Nominations for the election of academic staff members to the Faculty Boards will open on Monday 9 April 2024.

Faculty Board is a standing committee of Academic Council and provides academic governance oversight of the activities of the Faculty.

The Faculty Board Charter sets out its composition which includes two categories of elected members from each School as follows:

  • 6.1.7     One member of the academic staff from each School (other than the National Head of School or elected member of the Academic Council) elected by the academic staff of the school;
  • 6.1.8     One member of the Professoriate from each School (who is not an elected member of Academic Council).

The term of office for academic staff to the Faculty Board is two years, from time of election.

Elections were held in 2023 to fill some vacancies so an election will not be conducted for every academic representative role. Current vacancies are:

Faculty Board - Medicine, Nursing, Midwifery and Health Sciences
School of Medicine, Academic Level A-D staff
School of Health Sciences, Academic A-D staff
School of Nursing and Midwifery, Academic Level E (Professorial staff)

Faculty Board – Education, Philosophy and Theology
School of Education, Academic Level A-D staff
School of Philosophy and Theology, Academic Level A-D staff
School of Education, Academic Level E (Professorial staff)
School of Philosophy and Theology, Academic Level E (Professorial staff)

Faculty Board – Arts, Sciences, Law and Business
School of Arts and Sciences, Academic Level A-D staff
School of Law and Business, Academic Level A-D staff
School of Law and Business, Academic Level E (Professorial staff)

Eligible staff will receive an email from the Returning Officer on 9 April 2024 inviting nominations, which must be received by 5pm on 29 April 2024. All nominations must be submitted using the official nomination form and returned to the Returning Officer.

Should there be a greater number of nominations received than the positions available, an election will be conducted in accordance with the electoral process set out in the (Academic Council) Election Regulations. View a copy of the Regulations. Any queries can be directed to elections@nd.edu.au.
