Professor Pauline Nugent AM
Professor Pauline Nugent AM was appointed to the role of Provost, The University of Notre Dame Australia in July 2020.
This role encompasses the academic, research and international areas across the entire University.
Pauline has extensive higher education experience in course development and academic innovation, international collaboration, stakeholder engagement and delivering excellent learning experiences for students.
Prior to joining Notre Dame Professor Nugent was the inaugural Provost at Australian Catholic University from 2012 and led the university’s academic portfolio. She was also responsible for a number of key initiatives including establishing a campus in Rome; implementing the university’s core curriculum; establishing the Faculty of Law; and facilitating greater involvement with the International Federation of Catholic Universities. She also served as Deputy Vice Chancellor (Academic) and Dean of the Faculty of Health Sciences.
Professor Nugent was also Deputy Dean (Partnerships),inaugural Chair Nursing Development and Head of School of Nursing at Deakin University.
Professor Nugent’s public appointments have included Director and then Chair of Southern Health, then the largest public health network in Victoria; Director of Eastern Health and has served on numerous Federal and State Government panels and advisory boards.
In 2009 Professor Nugent was recognised as Victorian Businesswoman of the Year.
In January 2020 Professor Nugent was awarded Member of Order of Australia in the Australia Day Honours for significant service to education, and to nursing.
