  • Biography

    Dr Marion Milton is Adjunct Professor, the University of Notre Dame, Fremantle. She is also an Independent School Reviewer conducting reviews of non-government schools for re-registration. Before these appointments she was Associate Dean (Academic) and Associate Professor, Faculty of Education, La Trobe University, Victoria (2010-2013).  Prior to that she held the position of Senior Lecturer, ‘Badinami’ the Indigenous unit, University of Western Sydney and earlier, Senior Lecturer, Edith Cowan University, Mount Lawley (1992-2007) and Lecturer, University of Western Australia. Marion has lectured, researched and published for over twenty years, in her fields of expertise:  Teacher Education, Literacy, Literacy Difficulties and English as an additional language. She has been involved in national research into University Education Standards and an independent review of another faculty at La Trobe, as well as undertaking school and adult literacy curriculum reviews and updates in Western Australia. Research grants included: ALTC joint grant UWS/Charles Sturt/ACU on assessing professional teaching standards in practicum; ALTC Academic Standards Moderation; DEEWR joint grant UWS/CDU, on achieving best practice in flexible delivery and DETYA Mapping the Territory (literacy difficulties). Earlier, Marion was on the academic advisory committee for ACER’s Third Wave research project; Director of the Adult Literacy and Numeracy Australian Research Consortium (ALNARCWA); Steering Committee member for the Adult Literacy Services Bureau, WA; on the editorial committee of The Reading Teacher and reviewer for the Journal of Adolescent and Adult Literacy (both international journals).
