  • Biography

    Benjamin is a senior lecturer within the school and has worked at the University since 2011. Prior to this, he worked in the critical care area since the year 2000 in both clinical and non-clinical roles. These roles in Intensive Care (ICU), included Staff Development and Postgraduate Staff Development, Clinical Nursing, Clinical Nurse Consultant-Critical Care Outreach, and numerous Acting roles in Equipment nursing, research and teaching.

    Benjamin is an award winning academic having received awards for teaching and innovation. More recently, Benjamin received a VC Award for educational partnerships and collaborations for initiatives that enhance student learning. He is currently a member of the WA Chapter Honor Society of the Sigma Theta Tau International and a member of the Australian College of Nursing. Within his senior role, he enjoys mentoring staff and students to encourage excellence in learning, teaching and research scholarship.

    Benjamin holds a Masters (Nursing), a Graduate Certificate of Critical Care Nursing, a Graduate Certificate of University Teaching and a PhD, which explored the factors influencing nurse graduates use of mobile technology in clinical settings. Benjamin has presented at conferences and has published locally, nationally and internationally. His interests include mobile technology, social media in health care and critical care.

    • Teaching and course coordination of 1st year to 3rd year undergraduate courses including: Research and Informatics; Critical Care; Clinical Reasoning; Nursing skills; Health Assessment; Legal issues; & Pathophysiology and Pharmacology.
    • Course coordination of: Rural Health; Mental Health (Counseling Skills); & Chronic Care.
    • Coordinator of medication calculation software program across course (semester 2-6);
    • Post-graduate-Guest sessions- Re-entry to practice program; & Midwifery-Graduate Diploma of Midwifery course.

    • Doctor of Philosophy-PhD- Explanatory, sequential, mixed method research design;
