  • Biography

    James Cregan took a Bachelor of Arts degree in Continental Philosophy and Communications from Griffith University in Queensland in 1982. He subsequently completed a Diploma of Education specialising in teaching English and Drama and a Bachelor of Education in Special Needs Education. In 2005 James completed a Master of Arts degree (Theological Studies) at UNDA followed by Master of Theology with a dissertation on the recovery of the symbolism of the Garden of Eden through the motif of ‘water as blessing’ in Ezekiel and Revelation. In 2017 he completed a Ph. D. with a thesis researching further dimensions of the symbolism of Eden as expressed in New Testament theology. James has previously been a classroom teacher, community teacher, subject coordinator, head of department, and principal of a high school for children at risk. He lives in Perth, Western Australia, where, prior to taking a permanent appointment at UNDA Fremantle, he also worked as a gardener and landscape designer. Specialist areas of theological interest include biblical theology, systematic theology, Church history, and theological aesthetics.
