  • Biography

    Steven Lovell-Jones is Associate Professor of History and former Dean of the School of Arts & Sciences at Notre Dame, Sydney (2011-2015). Steven is a graduate from the University of New South Wales. Prior to his appointment at Notre Dame, he was Dean of Students at St Albert’s College and taught Politics at the University of New England, Armidale and History and Politics in the School of History and Centre for European Studies at the University of New South Wales. From 1996-98 he was Executive Officer for the NGO, AIDS Society for Asia and the Pacific. From 2006 -2011 and he was the Justice and Peace Promoter for the Archdiocese of Sydney whilst also Executive Officer for the Chancellor of the Archdiocese from 2007-2011. In 2010 Steven studied 'Conflict Resolution' at the Pontifical University, Antonianum in Rome.

    He specializes in modern European History and Catholic Social Teaching.

    Steven is currently completing for publication: 'Happiness is a New Idea in Europe: St Just, Virtue and Ventose'; 'Hungary 1944-45: A remaining fragment of German military strategy'. Steven teaches ‘Age of Empire and Revolution: Europe 1789-1989', 'Writing Lives’ and ‘Social Justice’ to undergraduates and postgraduates and is available to supervises both Honours and Postgraduate students.
