Welcome to Campus Ministry, Fremantle

The work of Campus Ministry is at the heart of the community at The University of Notre Dame Australia. Guided by a rich tradition of Catholic faith and values, the efforts of Campus Ministry are centred on the person of Jesus Christ and dedicated to assisting staff and students alike to encounter Him in their everyday activities.

The Campus Ministry team works to share the joy of the Gospel and hopes to promote, encourage and engage students’ faith on campus and to offer the chance for students and staff to flourish and seek excellence beyond measurable academic criteria.

Notre Dame Campus Ministry provides opportunities for fun and friendship, for discovery and wonder, for prayer and service, for liturgy and life. In doing this, we hope to support the spiritual life of the University and allow students of Notre Dame to receive a holistic education.

If you are interested in being involved with musical life at Notre Dame then the Holy Spirit choir would love to hear from you.

Our choir is mainly made up of Notre Dame students who come from across all faculties. Our singers have varying levels of singing experience but we all share a passion for music. We sing a wide range of repertoire from sacred to contemporary music.

Our rehearsals are held on Monday evenings at 7.00pm and are focused around improving each singer’s musicality and confidence, creating a strong homogenous choral sound and having fun making music together.

We also have the privilege of performing at some of the University’s most prestigious events including the mid-year Graduation ceremony and Assumption Mass.

  • Stations of the Cross

    Good Friday, 10am

The Stations of the Cross have long been part of the devotional tradition of the Catholic Church. They are a re-enactment of the passion and suffering of Jesus Christ, telling the story of the final events leading up to his crucifixion and resurrection. In 1994, the late Mrs Dianne Wansbrough, one of the early Governors and a great supporter of the School of Nursing, commissioned well-known Australian artist, Peter Schipperheyn, to create a series of 14 Stations for the Fremantle Campus. Beginning in the Malloy Courtyard and ending in the University’s Chapel, the series of bronze panels follow a path through the two main courtyards.

Every year on Good Friday, the University hosts a special Stations of the Cross service. For information on this event please contact the Campus Ministry Office on 9433 0581.

The story of the stations are included in the Public tours of the Fremantle Campus
