Releasing a life long ambition

Corey’s love for working with people was reflected in an early career in the West Australian Police Force and in Human Resources. “Medicine was something I always wanted to study. However, as a young man I thought it would be out of my reach,” Corey says. With family and work commitments vying for his time, Corey is grateful for the support of The Beasley Family Scholarship in Medicine and Nursing (2016) and The MADAL Scholarship in Medicine (2017 and 2018) in easing his financial responsibilities and helping to achieve his goals. “I hope to offer medical help in rural Australia, working in Aboriginal communities. Closing the gap in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health, education and employment is important to me,” he says.
