Catherine Fletcher is the WA’s Acting Information Commissioner at the Office of the Information Commissioner having been appointed to that role in July 2018.  Catherine was admitted to legal practice in Western Australia in 1991 after completing her articles and restricted practice with the State Solicitor (then Peter Panegyres).

In addition to her legal qualifications obtained from UWA in 1988 and 1989, Catherine obtained a graduate diploma in business management from UWA in 1997. For most of her career, Catherine has worked as a lawyer in various State and Commonwealth public sector agencies including at the (formerly named) Crown Solicitors Office (now the State Solicitor’s Office), the State and Commonwealth Director of Public Prosecutions and at Legal Aid WA. For several years Catherine also taught law and legal practice at UWA, Notre Dame University and at the Articles Training Program.

Catherine has also undertaken voluntary roles on several boards and committees including that of the Council and various committees of the Law Society of WA, the Law Advisory Board of Notre Dame University, the Committee of Women Lawyers WA (including the Steering Committee for WLWA’s 2014 Gender Bias Review) and several sporting governing bodies.
