Deferred or Irregularly Scheduled Exam Application

This form is to be used to apply for a deferred or irregularly scheduled final examination only.

A student may only apply for a deferred or irregularly scheduled examination on medical or compassionate grounds if the student believes that illness, disability through accident or other exceptional circumstances beyond their control are likely to prevent or have prevented their attendance at the scheduled final examination.

Important note: Applying for a Deferred or an Irregularly Scheduled examination may have a significant impact to your current study plan. It can potentially affect:

  • your course enrolment in a future semester(s);
  • your timeline to program completion and eligibility to graduate with your current program cohort;
  • your ability to participate in any practicums that your program may have due to pre-requisite requirements

All Deferred Exam application outcomes will be determined by Student Administration. However, prior to making an application, it is recommended that you seek course advice from your School to better understand how applying for a Deferred Exam may affect you.

An Irregularly Scheduled Examination is an examination that assesses the same learning outcomes to that of the final invigilated examination but is held at a time, date or place set by the National Director of Student Administration. An Irregularly Scheduled Examination can be held during the official examination period or at a time before the regularly scheduled final examination.

Deferred Examination is an examination that assesses the same learning outcomes to that of the final invigilated examination but is held at a time and date after the final examination for that course and usually in the next examination period, as determined by the National Director of Student Administration. Please refer to the University Academic Calendar for the dates of formal examination periods.
