Kimberley residents could be eligible for up to $15,000 per year in scholarship funding to help support them while they study with The University of Notre Dame Australia in Broome.
Notre Dame has been allocated 25 scholarship positions under the Australian Government’s Destination Australia 2023 (round 4) initiative.
The scholarships are available to students who begin full-time study at the University’s Broome campus this year, including in one of our postgraduate study programs, or vocational education and training (VET) courses. Enrolments for semester two are now open and a limited number of scholarships are also available for international students who want to study in Broome.
Notre Dame Pro Vice Chancellor, Student Experience, Professor Selma Alliex, said the scholarships were a great incentive for anyone thinking about studying to take the next step and turn their dreams into reality.
“Scholarship programs like this are so important because they help to ease the financial pressure on students by providing them with a guaranteed minimum income for the duration of their studies,” Professor Alliex said.
“Importantly, the funding is tax free, which means you may also still be eligible for other support payments such as Youth Allowance, Ausstudy or Abstudy, depending on your income from other sources.
“So for anyone looking to boost their skills or to move into an exciting new career, there really is no better time to enroll in one of the many courses offered at our beautiful Broome campus.”
The Destination Australia program aims to improve higher education rates in regional areas and increase awareness of the benefits of living, studying and working in regional Australia. It also helps to address skills shortages by training local people to fill vacancies in the communities where they live.
Priority is given to students from under under-represented backgrounds, including First Nations people and those who would be the first in their family to enroll at a university.
