Notre Dame excels again in nationwide student survey

10 April 2019

The University of Notre Dame Australia has again performed at the top in the Federal Government’s key nationwide student survey.

For undergraduate results from the 2018 Student Experience Survey released today (10 April), Notre Dame scored a 90.2 percent rating for Overall Quality of Educational Experience well above the national average of 79 percent.

Findings among the survey’s postgraduate students also put Notre Dame at the top nationwide for Learner Engagement, with a rating of 74.1%, above the national average of 60.3%, and Skills Development, with a rating of 87.8%, above the national average of 80.6%.

These results follow a series of surveys over the past year in which Notre Dame ranked first in both Western Australia and New South Wales and Sydney for Skills Scale in the 2018 Graduate Outcomes Survey and for Graduate Employability in the 2018 Employer Satisfaction Survey.

Findings from the survey are published on the Government’s Quality Indicators for Learning and Teaching (QILT) website (www.qilt.edu.au).

The SES is unique in that it draws feedback from students with the aim of helping students to make informed decisions about future study by enabling them to compare universities across states and study areas. More than 510,000 students from around Australia responded to the 2018 SES, including almost 5,000 students from Notre Dame’s Fremantle, Broome and Sydney Campuses.

“These results are testament to our distinctive approach to higher education which draws on centuries of teaching, scholarship and research tradition, resulting in academic excellence, and balanced with the strongest pastoral care and student support” said Acting Vice Chancellor, Peter Tranter.

“We are delighted that our students say their student experience is one of the best in Australia.”
