The University of Notre Dame Australia has outperformed the nation’s 40 other universities – both private and public – to claim top spot for providing a quality educational experience in a nationwide survey commissioned by the Federal Government.
Findings from the combined results for undergraduate 2017 Student Experience Survey (SES), announced (Wednesday 16 May 2018), show Notre Dame is the top rated university in Australia for ‘Overall Quality of Educational Experience’ with a 91.1% rating – an increase of close to 2% from last year – and well above the national average of 79.3%.
Findings from the survey are published on the Government’s Quality Indicators for Learning and Teaching (QILT) website (www.qilt.edu.au).
The SES is unique in that it draws feedback from students with the aim of helping students to make informed decisions about future study by enabling them to compare universities across states and study areas. More than 351,000 students from around Australia responded to the combined 2016 and 2017 SES, including over 4000 students from Notre Dame’s Fremantle, Broome and Sydney Campuses.
The SES survey builds on Notre Dame’s success in graduate employment outcomes. In the 2017 Employer Satisfaction Survey published on QILT in January this year, Notre Dame ranks second among all universities in Australia with an overall employer satisfaction rating of 89.1%.
Results from the undergraduate Graduate Outcomes Survey, released in January this year, show Notre Dame rated first in WA and NSW for ‘Overall Graduate Satisfaction’, ‘Teaching Scale’, ‘Skills Scale’, and ‘Median Salary’. Notre Dame rated first in WA in two further categories ‘Full-time Employment’and ‘Overall Employment’.
Professor Celia Hammond, Notre Dame Vice Chancellor, said that the current survey results reflect the commitment and passion of all involved with the University to the provision of an excellent educational experience for each student.
“We are a University community that recognises each student as an individual and we strive to encourage, motivate and support them to develop their gifts and talents, realise their potential and flourish.”
“We want to be known for the outstanding quality and character of our students and our graduates. To that end, we provide an educational experience which is integrative and transformative, that combines theoretical knowledge, disciplinary expertise and professional skills within a broader education in the liberal arts and an emphasis on ethical awareness and reflective practice.”
“We are truly delighted to again receive such high praise from our students about the quality of the education they receive at Notre Dame.”
