CHC30221 Certificate III in School Based Education Support

Do you want to work as a Teaching Assistant in a school? This qualification will kick start your career in the Education sector and prepare you for work as a Teaching Assistant, supporting children to learn and develop in the classroom. Upon completing this qualification, you can apply for jobs such as Teaching Assistant, Aboriginal Teaching Assistant, Education Integration Officer, and Learning Support Assistant.

Throughout the course, you will gain the skills required to support students with different developmental needs, to assist Teachers in delivering planned educational programs, support the development of literacy and numeracy, and ensure the learning environment is inclusive and relevant. You will also gain the knowledge needed to guide the responsible behaviour of children and young people in a safe and supportive environment and apply various processes to facilitate student learning. You will also be involved in a minimum of 100 hours of work placement in an educational environment.

This course is delivered face to face on Notre Dame's Fremantle and Broome Campuses and at school and community locations throughout the Kimberley and is full-time over 18 months. You will be required to complete 17 units of competency, 12 core units and five electives, to be awarded a CHC30221 Certificate III in School Based Education Support qualification.

This program is suitable for school leavers or other interested persons wanting to gain employment in the education sector and current employees in the education sector wishing to qualify. This program is a significant first step in an education career and is a pathway to CHC40221 Certificate IV in School Based Education Support. This course is subsidised by Jobs and Skills WA for people living in Western Australia. Please note that access to subsidised training is subject to availability.
