Undergraduate Certificate in Mathematics​

The Undergraduate Certificate in Mathematics offers students the opportunity to experience University-level studies in fields such as statistics, algebra, geometry, trigonometry and calculus. Students develop skills in problem-solving and mathematical processes.

  • Why study this certificate?

    The Undergraduate Certificate in Mathematics is an excellent pathway for students preparing for further study of higher awards, such as a Diploma or Bachelor degree.

    An Undergraduate Certificate of Mathematics is designed for students who:

    • Would like to add value to their existing professional experience and qualifications by gaining skills in mathematics
    • Are adding a second (or third) teaching specialisation to an Education qualification
    • Are returning to or entering university, and want to trial whether they would like to proceed with further study in mathematics
  • Program Summary

    The Undergraduate Certificate in Mathematics consists of four courses.

    Students are required to complete one compulsory course:

    MATH1030 Principles of Mathematics

    And three of the following elective courses (as course pre-requisites allow):

    • MATH1020 Statistics
    • MATH1300 Mathematics Foundations or MATH1400 Key Concepts in Mathematics
    • MATH2000 Linear Algebra
    • MATH2100 Calculus and Applied Mathematics or MATH2020 Calculus

    Please note that although this certificate is delivered wholly online, the Bachelor of Arts requires attendance on the Sydney or Fremantle campus.

  • Entry Requirements

    The minimum entry requirements of The University of Notre Dame Australia apply for the Undergraduate Certificate in Mathematics.

    While minimum entry requirements need to be met, we also consider a student’s application more broadly — their non-academic achievements (professional work experience, leadership roles, volunteering, community and/or church involvement), as well as their personal qualities, aspirations, interests and capacity to successfully complete this program.
