Remaining authentic CREATING AN ONLINE PRESENCE FOR YOURSELF, YOUR BRAND OR ORGANISATION CAN BE A DAUNTING PROSPECT, BUT IT’S IMPORTANT TO CONSIDER A STRATEGY BASED ON ADVOCACY AND AUTHENTICITY. With news feeds swimming in fake news, it’s more important than ever to create a tone, image and voice on social media that feels authentic to your target audience. TIPS AND TRICKS • Engage with private-groups and online networks that can provide advice and resources for self-starters. Facebook is a great place to find local groups that offer support for those who work in similar industries. • Create a consistent tone-of-voice across your different platforms, but remember that an audience on Instagram will communicate and react differently to those engaging on LinkedIn. Check your tone (and emoji) before posting the same message on each account. • If appropriate, encourage your existing customers or clients to write personalised reviews and ratings. Then engage with those comments with a simple reply or thank you. Good or bad – acknowledging the review makes a lasting impression on potential new business.
