Campus Connect Student Experience The Campus Life team are dedicated to providing you with opportunities to make a difference, learn new skills and meet new people through sport and recreation, mentoring, volunteering, clubs and societies. We also provide careers guidance via Beyond the Books and a free and confidential counselling service. These opportunities are available on campus and online to all our students. Student Association and Clubs The Student Association (SAUNDA) is nothing without you, the students. By enrolling at NDU you are automatically a SAUNDA member, giving you the opportunity to be heard through direct student representation. SAUNDA is here to support your student experience, and offer amazing opportunities, activities and events so you can make the most of your time at University. You can join one of over 20 clubs and societies or start your own, join the SAUNDA Committee, or participate in student led activities. SAUNDA is also online, which means you can participate and continue your student journey wherever you are through online workshops, meet and greets, competitions, live streams and more. Be sure to check out the SAUNDA website, Facebook and Instagram pages to stay up to date with student events. @sydney.saunda Mentoring Program At Notre Dame University we understand that your first year is both an exciting and daunting experience, and that’s why we pair first year undergraduate students with a student mentor during first semester. Your mentor will arrange meetings with you either in person or online enabling you to contact them during semester in case you need assistance. Your mentor is here to help you navigate through your first year, giving you guidance throughout your time at university. Volunteering Engage in volunteering and you’ll have a positive impact on the community while also extending your personal and professional networks, improving your skills, meeting new people and enhancing your résumé and career opportunities. There are many internal and external opportunities for you to volunteer during the year. Sports Campus Life offers you a wide variety of sporting and recreational activities. From the high-level Elite Athlete program to social sport offerings such as lunchtime netball, football, basketball, futsal and volleyball, as well as classes and activities that can be accessed online such as yoga, e-sports and UniSport League of Legends. Notre Dame University sends teams to Division 1 and 2 Nationals – a week-long multi- sport tournament featuring universities from around Australia. There are also national competitions in 3 x 3 basketball, athletics, Indigenous Games, Snow Games, marathon, Oztag, surfing, swimming, T20 cricket and triathlon. Elite Athlete Program We are committed to supporting elite athletes to achieve academic excellence whilst pursuing a sporting career. To be eligible for the program you must currently compete in your chosen sport at a: • National open level • National age-group level or State open level • State age-group level Campus Ministry The Campus Ministry team works to promote, encourage and engage students’ faith on campus and to offer the chance for students and staff to flourish and seek excellence beyond measurable academic criteria. Campus Ministry welcomes students of all backgrounds and faiths, or no faith at all. Careers The Beyond the Books team are your gateway to career success and are available to help you realise your full potential from day one at Notre Dame University. The University’s Careers Advisors offer one- on-one appointments, face-to-face and online careers workshops on a range of career-related topics. Topics include: job- seeking strategies; résumé and cover letter writing; interview preparation and emotional intelligence. Pre-recorded career workshops are also available so you can access them wherever you are. Bookings can be made online through CareerHub. CareerHub also offers you access to job and internship listings and a range of careers resources. Counselling Our free and confidential counselling service helps students develop skills and strategies that enable you to achieve your personal and academic goals, making your time at university more comfortable and stress-free. The counselling service also offers phone counselling to ensure that you can access this resource off campus.
