MIDWIFERY GRADUATE DIPLOMA OF MIDWIFERY Duration : One and a half years full-time or two years part-time Practicum : 30 weeks (6 x five-week blocks) Admission requirements : Registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (NMBA) as a Registered Nurse Loan Scheme : FEE-HELP The Graduate Diploma of Midwifery is an 18-month postgraduate degree offered to Registered Nurses who are currently registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (NMBA). The program exposes students to many different professional practice sites in city and rural areas, large and smaller hospitals and community and women’s health settings. Students develop a high level of critical and reflective thinking skills, technical competence and interdisciplinary teamwork skills, necessary for professional practice of the Registered Midwife. HEALTH HUB SET TO TRANSFORM KIMBERLEY HEALTHCARE A major new health hub at Notre Dame’s Broome Campus is transforming the Kimberley, addressing the growing shortage of health care professionals in the region and substantially increasing employment opportunities for allied health, nursing and midwifery students. Notre Dame is the only university in Western Australia to receive $8.5 million in funding to establish a University Department of Rural Health (UDRH) as part of a $54.4 million Federal Government initiative which will see a series of Regional Training Hubs and UDRHs established across the country.
