Master of Arts (Theology) Theology has always held a central place in the life and mission of the Christian community. Through the critical study and interpretation of religion, the Church and community come to understand their own faith and explain that faith to others. Our Master of Arts (Theology) program appeals to those who want to deepen their understanding of this discipline and explore major issues such as the nature of God, personal identity, human origins and destiny. Program code: 5138 Commencement: Semester 1 and Semester 2 Duration: 2 years full-time or equivalent part-time Study mode: Fremantle Campus (Blended learning) Why study this degree? A knowledge of theology is indispensable to a person’s development of faith as it is central to the exercise of all ministries, lay and ordained, directed toward the communication and sharing of that faith. Theology explores important issues such as the nature of God, the kind of God revealed for us in Jesus Christ, the nature of personal identity and of humanity, human origins and destiny, Christian community and God’s presence with us in the Spirit. The Master of Arts (Theology) is designed for those with an undergraduate degree who wish to undertake further study in theology, while providing a firm foundation for independent research. The program offers an opportunity for you to explore a variety of theological areas after completing a number of foundational courses. Graduates find employment in areas such as religious education, ministry, pastoral counselling, spiritual direction and youth work.
