Graduate Diploma of Sport Coaching & Leadership Building on the foundations of the Graduate Certificate, the Graduate Diploma of Sport Coaching & Leadership further develops a comprehensive and ethical knowledge of coaching, management and leadership, with a particular focus on strength and conditioning, and integrated performance. Program code: 4161 Commencement: Semester 1 and Semester 2 Duration: Equivalent to 1 year of full-time study Practical component: Minimum of fifteen (15) hours Study mode: Fremantle Campus Why study this program? This program provides future and current coaches with a clear understanding of the theory and methodological application of best practice principles that focus on holistic athlete development. Throughout the program, you explore coaching and leadership theories and behaviours, cultural issues, performance analysis techniques, and professional practice principles. The program adopts a multi-disciplinary holistic approach to performance coaching within an ethical framework. Students reflect on their own coaching experience, and how coaching and leadership can influence athletic environments, performance and progress. Program summary The seven compulsory program courses within the Graduate Diploma include: • Multidimensional Coaching Practice • Performance Technology and Analysis for Coaches • Leadership and Culture in Sport • Professional Practice in High Performance Sport • Applications of Advanced Strength and Conditioning • Integrated Approaches to Athlete Health and Performance • Evidence Based Coaching Practice And one core curriculum course: • Ethical Issues in Professional Life Entry requirements A Bachelor’s degree (AQF Level 7) in a related field; or Bachelor’s degree (AQF Level 7 in any field) combined with five years coaching experience in semi- professional or professional sport.
