EDUCATION EDUCATION MASTER OF EDUCATION Duration: Two years full-time or the equivalent part-time Admission requirements: A Bachelor of Education degree or equivalent with a minimum of three to five years’ professional experience and a background in research. Loan Scheme: RTP* Campuses: Fremantle, Sydney A Master of Education is a research degree that culminates in examination by thesis. While there is no coursework component, coursework may be requested by the Dean to support the research methodology. The School of Education offers supervision in a wide range of topic areas. The Master of Education does not provide teacher accreditation. DOCTOR OF EDUCATION Duration: Three years full-time or the equivalent part-time Admission requirements: An Honours or Master’s level degree completed to a high standard. Previous research experience is required. Loan Scheme: RTP* Campuses: Fremantle, Sydney A Doctor of Education is a research degree that combines coursework in research training with writing a thesis. Previous experience in research is required for acceptance into the degree although additional research training is provided by the coursework component. The Doctor of Education has a direct connection to the profession and usually involves research connected to the workplace. The School of Education offers supervision in a wide range of topic areas. As part of the degree, students complete four Research Methods courses – Quantitative Research Methods, Qualitative Research Methods, Developing a Research Proposal and Scholarly Reading and Writing. PHILOSOPHY MASTER OF PHILOSOPHY Duration: One and a half years full-time or the equivalent part-time Admission requirements: A Bachelor’s degree or equivalent completed to a high standard. No previous experience in research is required for acceptance into the degree. However, additional coursework may be required to support the study process. While there is no coursework component, coursework may be requested by the Dean to support the research process. Domestic applicants are eligible for fee remission as part of the Australian Government’s Research Training Program (RTP). International applicants may apply for a fee-offset on a competitive basis.
