I N P R I N C I P I O | 2 2 NATIONWIDE SURVEY RESULTS TESTAMENT TO NOTRE DAME’S DISTINCTIVE APPROACH TO UNIVERSITY EDUCATION Providing prospective students with relevant and transparent information In the latest Student Experience Survey (SES), Notre Dame outperformed Australia’s 40 universities to claim leadership in providing a quality educational experience. Findings from the Federal Government survey, conducted among undergraduate students in 2017 and released in May this year, show Notre Dame is the top rated university in Australia for ‘Overall Quality of Educational Experience’ with a result of 91.1 percent. The result is almost two percent higher than the 2016 survey results and well above the national average of 79.3 percent. The SES is part of a government initiative introduced in 2015 – and published on its Quality Indicators for Teaching and Learning website (www.qilt.edu.au ) – which aims to provide prospective students with relevant and transparent information from the perspective of recent students and graduates. The student feedback is interactive and searchable, containing detailed data that help prospective students do side-by-side comparisons and make informed decisions about their study options. The SES builds on Notre Dame’s success in graduate employment outcomes. Results from the 2017 Employer Satisfaction Survey (ESS), released in January this year, placed Notre Dame first among all universities in WA and NSW with an ‘Overall Employer Satisfaction’ rating of 89.1 percent. Results from the undergraduate Graduate Outcomes Survey, released in January this year, show Notre Dame rated first in WA and NSW for 'Overall Graduate Satisfaction', 'Teaching Scale', 'Skills Scale', and 'Median Salary'. Notre Dame rated first in WA in two further categories 'Full-time Employment' and 'Overall Employment'. Professor Celia Hammond, Notre Dame Vice Chancellor, said that the current survey results reflect the commitment and passion of all involved with the University to the provision of an excellent educational experience for each student. "We are a University community that recognises each student as an individual and we strive to encourage, motivate and support them to develop their gifts and talents, realise their potential and flourish. "We want to be known for the outstanding quality and character of our students and our graduates. To that end, we provide an educational experience which is integrative and transformative, that combines theoretical knowledge, disciplinary expertise and professional skills within a broader education in the liberal arts and an emphasis on ethical awareness and reflective practice. "We are truly delighted to again receive such high praise from our students about the quality of the education they receive at Notre Dame".
