  • Biography

    In 2011 Leanne become the inaugural Chair of Nursing (Clinical Nursing) at Notre Dame and St John of God Hospital Murdoch and provides leadership to promote and enable excellence in research and scholarship, teaching and learning, and innovation in nursing and multidisciplinary practice.

    Previously, Leanne has held a number of positions that include a joint appointment between the Western Australian Cancer and Palliative Care Network, Curtin University/Edith Cowan University (ECU) as Associate Professor of Cancer Nursing. Prior to this she held positions as Associate Professor of Paediatric Healthcare at ECU and Bluey Day Senior Research Fellow at ECU/PMH. Prior to her academic roles, Leanne worked extensively as a registered nurse and midwife in neonatal intensive care at KEMH where she conducted a number of randomised controlled trials of nursing interventions with very low birthweight infants for her Honours and Doctoral degrees.

    Leanne’s research interests include cancer, palliative care, neonates, paediatrics, midwifery, clinical ethics and translational research. She has attracted significant research funding including grants from the ARC, NHMRC and the Canadian Health Institute and published widely in peer reviewed journals. She has supervised over 16 Masters and PhD students.
