How do I apply?

Express your interest

Get in touch with our team to express your interest in a VET course via email at VETadmin@nd.edu.au or by phone on (08) 9433 0168.

You’ll be sent your application information, including the Student Handbook and Course Guide. The information includes information on who to contact if you need assistance. An explanation of the process is included in these documents.

Your application is reviewed for completeness and an interview is arranged.

Attend an interview

An interview is conducted with trainers and assessors and further queries are answered. After your interview, you will be assisted to complete documentation.

Sit required assessments

Our admin staff will arrange for you to sit a language, literacy, and numeracy assessment. The assessment, compliant with DEWR standards, is delivered through BKSB and recorded by VET Administration to ensure accuracy, honesty and integrity. The assessment is likely to take between 30 to 40 minutes. Upon completion of the assessment, the results will be reported to both the student and the Secretary upon request. For the HLT54121 Diploma of Nursing, the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (NMBA) have English Language Skill requirements for registration as an enrolled nurse.

Note: If you’re applying for a VET Student Loan, you’ll be assessed as academically suited to your course, and you must provide either:

  • a copy of your Australian Senior Secondary Certificate of Education (year 12 Certificate) or
  • evidence of successful completion of an Australian Qualification Framework (AQF) Certificate IV or higher qualification (where the language of instruction is English).

Find out the outcome

We’ll let you know whether your application is successful or unsuccessful. If unsuccessful, you can appeal the decision to the University (see Procedure: (VET) Student Appeals).

If successful, you’ll be given an offer of admission to the course.

Accept your offer

If you’re successful, complete the offer and return acceptance and enrolment forms along with your Unique Student Identifier (USI). A USI is required prior to starting your studies.

Note: Your USI can be created online and at no cost.

You’ll then receive a letter of welcome and proof of course enrolment.
