FREMANTLE CAMPUS 74 SCHOOL OF NURSING & MIDWIFERY Nursing Bachelor of Nursing Practicum: 1,120 hours Recommended Year 12 subjects: ATAR English, Mathematics and Human Biology Loan Scheme: HECS-HELP Completed in three years of full-time study, our Bachelor of Nursing places a strong focus on the nurse-patient relationship and is highly practical. You undertake 1,120 hours of practical nursing experience during the program – more than any other nursing program in Western Australia. The program gives you the skills and confidence to work in a variety of healthcare settings when you graduate. The program is accredited by the Australian Nursing and Midwifery Accreditation Council. The Diploma of Enrolled Nursing must be commenced and completed after Year 12, i.e. post- school leaving age. Loan Scheme: HECS-HELP The Bachelor of Nursing (EN Articulation Pathway) places a strong emphasis on the nurse-patient relationship and is highly practical in its orientation. Designed for Enrolled Nurses who wish to upgrade their qualifications to become Registered Nurses, you will undertake a total of 760 hours practical nursing experience over the two years – more than any other nursing programs at other universities in Western Australia. Why study this degree This is a special program for Enrolled Nurses who wish to upgrade their qualifications to become Registered Nurses. If you already hold a Diploma HLT51607, HLT51612 or HLT54115 you are exempt from taking certain courses in the formal curriculum so you can complete the Bachelor of Nursing in two years rather than the normal three. The program, which is divided into four broad study streams, uses problem- solving and an evidence-based approach to teaching. Theoretical and practical components are integrated. Subjects covered include anatomy, physiology, microbiology, pharmacology, ethics, clinical reasoning, health communications, paediatrics and adolescent health. In line with the program’s hands- on approach, you will undertake approximately 400 hours of clinical practice each year. You also acquire a solid academic foundation – ideal if you wish to pursue further studies or acquire specialist nursing skills.
