NSWBuy Contingent Workforce Scheme

The NSWBuy Contingent Workforce Scheme provides a simplified process for engaging temporary staff. This scheme, developed for NSW Government agencies and eligible buyers, offers standardised rates, reporting requirements, and contract management.

  • Benefits

    • Simplified terms and conditions and reduced insurance requirements.
    • Standardised rates and contract management.
    • No management fees previously levied on suppliers.
    • Access to regional and small to medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).
  • Pricing and Supplier Fees

    • Supplier fee is 7.05% of the pay rate for the first 12 months and 5.14% thereafter.
    • Minimum supplier fee - $3.00 per hour.
    • Maximum supplier fee - $15.00 per hour for the first 12 months.
    • For engagements over 12 months, a flat fee of 5.14% applies.
  • Transition from Temporary to Permanent Employment

    • Minimum period of hire is generally four hours.
    • It is recommended not to engage contractors for longer than six months.
  • Extending/Renewing Orders

    • For assignments over 12 months, a maximum fee of 5.14% of the normal pay rate applies.
    • Payroll fees are fixed at 5.14% of the normal time pay rate.
  • Compliance

    • Business Units are obliged to use the agreed schemes for engaging contingent staff.
    • Transition to the scheme should be completed within six months if current contracts exist.
  • Engaging Staff Under the Scheme

    1. Contact suppliers registered with the scheme directly.
    2. Advise suppliers they are being engaged under the scheme to ensure set fees and charges.
    • For engagements under $250K, quotes or proposals from multiple agencies are not required.
    • For engagements over $250K, contact the Strategic Procurement Manager for guidance.

  • Supplier Listing and Updates

    • Information about approved suppliers is available on the NSWBuy website.
    • New suppliers can register at any time, and the listing is continually updated.
  • Dispute Resolution

    1. Attempt to resolve disputes directly with the supplier.
    2. If unresolved, escalate to NSW Procurement via the Supplier Performance Report.
