Gender equality
The University of Notre Dame Australia is committed to fostering an equitable, respectful and inclusive workplace that allows all employees, regardless of gender, to flourish and be the best version of themselves.
Workplace gender equity is achieved when people can access and enjoy the same opportunities, resources and rewards regardless of their gender. Addressing gender inequity means actively applying measures to address the disadvantages experienced by women.
It is important to address gender equity through an intersectional lens, considering the compounding biases women can face when they are treated differently as a result of their culture, language, race, social status, etc.
Workplace Gender Equality Strategy 2024 - 2026
Our Workplace Gender Equality Strategy 2024 - 2026 provides a framework for prioritising our actions to progress workplace gender equality at the University. The Strategy is built on two pillars, with the Workplace Gender Equality Act (WGEA) indicators guiding our four focus areas:
Pillar | Focus area | Vision |
|---|---|---|
An inclusive workplace | Gender composition | Gender balanced workforce |
Employee consultation | To listen and understand issues our employees have concerning gender equality in the workplace | |
A just and equitable workplace | Pay equity | Equal remuneration for equal work between women and men |
Respect and equal access to opportunities | A workplace that is free from sex-based discrimination and harassment, and provides equal access to opportunities |
Workplace Gender Equality Reporting
Transparency is important. The University submits annual reports to the Workplace Gender Equality Agency (WGEA) in compliance with the Act.
