Academic Promotion
Academic Promotion recognises and rewards academic excellence and sustained achievement in alignment with the University’s strategic priorities and relevant frameworks. It provides academic employees with the opportunity to demonstrate their commitment to excellence and sustained achievement to progress their career.
2026 applications open on 3 June 2026 and close on 29 July 2026.
Eligibility
To be eligible to apply for Academic Promotion, you must:
- be a continuing or fixed-term academic employee (if fixed-term, your contract must extend until at least the end of the year); and
- have served a minimum of two years of continuous service at your current level of appointment (excludes casual service).
Please refer to section 5 of the Academic Promotions Policy for additional eligibility requirements.
How to Apply
Before applying for Academic Promotion, please ensure you have:
- read the Academic Promotion policy & procedure

- read the Academic Excellence Framework

- consulted with your National Head of School and attended an information session
- complete the Case for Promotion document

There are three steps to complete:
- Application form
- Case for Promotion
- National Head of School report
Applications must be submitted via the Application Portal.
Late applications will not be accepted.
