  • Biography

Annabeth was educated at Curtin University of Technology where she completed a Bachelor of Science with a major in Environmental Biology with particular focus on zoology and aquatic science. Her PhD in freshwater ecology investigated the ecology, toxicology and morphology of cyanobacterial blooms in Perth urban wetlands. During her time at Curtin University she taught in the areas of cells, plant and animal biology and was a research assistant for the Wetland Research Group and International Diatom Herbarium.

As a trained phytoplankton taxonomist, Annabeth has worked for the Department of Water and Environmental Regulation as an Environmental Officer and regularly consults with the Phytoplankton Ecology Unit. Annabeth is an active undergraduate lecturer in the School specialising in introductory biology, animal diversity, aquatic science and undergraduate research. Her research interests in are the first-year experience, work integrated learning and the student experience in capstone courses. Joining Notre Dame in 2005, Annabeth has worked in leadership roles as an Associate Dean (2011-2013) and Science Program Coordinator (2011  - 2015). Annabeth Kemp currently coordinates the Biology and Human Biology majors in the School of Arts and Sciences in Fremantle.
