Overseas study tours
Notre Dame aims to produce graduates who are recognized as global citizens and work for the common good. Students are encouraged to boost their employability by taking advantage of the opportunities available, including overseas study tours. It is a great way to travel while earning credits directly towards their degree.
Those study tours are intensive programs (2 to 4 weeks long) that combine unique academic, cultural and practical learning experiences, and are often done in partnership with universities abroad. Guided by Notre Dame faculty academics, these programs offer you unique global opportunities to learn with your peers. It is an amazing opportunity to combine study and travel!
Study tours are typically run in the summer or winter break. Opportunities are promoted on a rolling basis. Please contact your School for more information about upcoming programs.

Short-term programs
Short-term programs are best suited for students who cannot commit to a full semester overseas, or who may have restrictions in their degree.
Students can travel abroad for two weeks to three months for an academic experience that count towards their degree. It is a wonderful opportunity to expand your learning while having a life-changing cultural immersion.

CIS Australia
CIS Australia is dedicated to providing university students with innovative, high quality, short-term overseas study, intern and volunteer experiences for academic credit, while promoting global awareness, inspiring personal growth, and developing engaged world citizens.
CIS Australia supported study tours:
The School of Nursing partnered with CIS Australia in the past to send students on an International Nursing Placement in Laos. The program included site visits to hospitals in Vientiane, giving students a unique perspective on Laos’ healthcare landscape and local practices. The group also worked in rural clinics in local villages, gaining firsthand experience in delivering care in remote communities, enhancing both practical skills and cultural awareness.
This partnership between CIS Australia and UNDA created an impactful program with real-world learning experiences for our students.
Please contact your school for any information about CIS supported study tours.
CIS Australia programs:
These programs are run directly by CIS Australia and students who wish to participate in such programs for academic credit must seek approval from their School and apply for cross-institutional enrolment.

Pilgrimage: CORE Curriculum Elective
This core curriculum elective provides students with the opportunity to engage in pilgrimage organized or supported by the university to further develop and integrate their faith and reason by walking the path of faith and encountering places of special significance in the Catholic tradition in Australia and abroad.
The course will require students to learn about the theological underpinnings of pilgrimage, the places of pilgrimage they will visit, and the historical and cultural context of the specific pilgrimage they will go on.
Please contact your School for more information.

NCP-Supported study tours
The New Colombo Plan (NCP) is a prestigious Australian Government scholarship scheme that provides opportunities for undergraduate students to undertake semester-based study, language training or internships in the Indo-Pacific.
At UNDA, some Schools organise NCP-supported Study Tours that last between two to four weeks, where students learn and travel alongside a UNDA academic.
Please talk to your School about the types of programs available.
The School of Arts and Sciences offer the Experience the World Study Tours with Notre Dame’s exchange partners in Asia. This program has been fortunate to receive the support from the Government’s NCP Mobility Grant, providing eligible students with scholarships to cover the cost of related travel expenses, and supporting their learning and immersion experiences in the Indo-Pacific.
For example, our Bachelor of Arts students majoring in Social Justice, have had the opportunity to take up an international placement and travel to locations such as Cambodia. Service-learning combines community service with academic instruction as it focuses on critical, reflective thinking and civic responsibility.
