Welcome from the School of Health Sciences
It is a privilege and a pleasure to welcome you to the National School of Health Sciences.
Our mission is to educate graduates who combine professional excellence with a strong commitment to service, integrity, and the common good. Within Health Sciences, we are dedicated to preparing future health professionals and scientists who are adaptable, generous, compassionate, and equipped to respond to the evolving needs of individuals and communities.
Our programs produce highly skilled, work-ready graduates through a carefully balanced approach to learning. We emphasise critical thinking, evidence-based practice, and the development of practical skills, ensuring our students graduate with both the knowledge and the confidence to contribute meaningfully to the workplace and to society.
The School offers a diverse range of degrees across disciplines including biomedical science, clinical exercise physiology, exercise and sports science, health sciences, occupational therapy, physiotherapy and speech pathology. These programs are recognised by leading professional bodies, ensuring our graduates meet the highest national and international standards.
A defining feature of our programs is the integration of extensive practicum and internship experiences. Students engage in real-world learning across a wide range of settings, including but not limited to hospitals, community health services, private practice, schools, and health promotion agencies. These opportunities provide invaluable exposure to professional practice and support a smooth transition from university to career, reflecting Notre Dame’s strong emphasis on combining academic learning with workplace experience.
You will be part of a welcoming and supportive community and accessible staff who foster meaningful connections. Our educators (clinicians, academics, and researchers), are committed to mentoring students as individuals, supporting both their professional development and personal growth. This strong culture of pastoral care and student support is a hallmark of the Notre Dame experience.
Health care is rapidly evolving, and so too are the roles of health professionals and scientists. At the National School of Health Sciences, we are committed to preparing graduates who are not only technically competent and safe, but also thoughtful, ethical, and ready to lead and innovate in an ever-changing world.
We look forward to supporting you on your journey.
