  • Biography

    Dane has 18 years of dedicated service in various academic roles within Australian higher education. With a PhD in Medicine and a BSc (Hons) in Bioinformatics from the University of Sydney, he established the Research Computing Facility at the Bosch Institute and later served as a Physiology Lecturer. Recognised with the Sydney Medical School Award for Teaching Excellence, Dane played a central role in implementing the blended teaching approach at the Charles Perkins Centre.

    Joining Macquarie University in 2016, he led the launch of the Bachelor of Clinical Science, influencing medical science curriculum development and securing AMC accreditation for the Doctor of Medicine (MD) course. Since 2019 at UNDA, Dane served as Head of Assessment for the Sydney School of Medicine and recently joined the central Curriculum and Quality team, contributing to university-wide curriculum enhancement. In 2024, he also assumed the role of Associate Dean, Learning and Teaching, for the Faculty of Arts, Science, Law, and Business.

    An advocate for technology-enhanced learning, Dane introduces award-winning online and blended teaching methods. As a passionate constructivist, he champions active and engaging lesson design and provides training for academic staff. Beyond academia, he serves as Biostatistics Advisor to the North Shore Local Health District Human Research Ethics Committee (HREC).
