  • Biography

    Dr Monika Krajcovicova is a Senior Lecturer in Early Childhood Education at the School of Education, The University of Notre Dame Australia in Sydney. Monika's research focuses on interculturality, educational equity, social justice, and inclusion within early childhood education. Her research endeavours aim to advance educational practices, policies, and experiences, especially for children from diverse cultural backgrounds and disadvantaged communities. Additionally, she is committed to supporting and enhancing the educational journey of preservice teachers in university settings, with a particular focus on incorporating internationalization within higher education. Monika specialises in several teaching domains, including learning and developmental theories, family and community engagement, curriculum design, pedagogical methodologies, assessment strategies, creating inclusive learning environments, incorporating creativity and play into learning, and conducting educational research.

    Dr Monika has served as an International Editorial Board Member of the Social Pathology and Prevention (S.P.P.) journal and as a Management Committee Member of the Multicultural Families Organisation Inc. in Gold Coast. Previously, she contributed as a Member of the Queensland Early Childhood Teacher Education Network (QECTEN) (2021-2022), Co-Convenor of the Early Childhood Special Interest Group (SIG) for the Australian Association for Research in Education (AARE) (2016-2017), and Member of the Teacher Education Industry Advisory Group (TEIAG) in Logan and Gold Coast (2015-2022).

    Dr Monika Krajcovicova has held various leadership roles in higher education institutions. She served as the Coordinator for International Relationships (2007-2010) before becoming the Vice-Dean of International Relationships (2010-2011) at the Faculty of Education, University of Presov in Slovakia. Furthermore, she was the Program Director (2015-2017) for the Graduate Certificate in Early Childhood Education and Care, Graduate Diploma of Early Childhood Education, and Master of Early Childhood Education at the School of Education and Professional Studies, Griffith University. As a Program Co-coordinator at the School of Education, The University of Notre Dame Australia, Monika assisted in the Bachelor of Primary Education program.

    Dr Krajcovicova has been recognised with numerous teaching commendations, including the 2022 Academic Director's Commendations for Teaching and Learning at Griffith College, as well as Teaching Commendations in 2021 and 2018, and the Academic Provost Commendation in 2015 from Griffith University. Additionally, she has received several prestigious awards and fellowships, such as the 2011 Endeavour Awards Research Fellowships at Monash University in Australia, the 2010 Erasmus Teaching Staff Mobility Programme at Queen Maud University College of Early Childhood Education in Norway, the 2009 The Lifelong Learning Programme (LLP) at Roma Tre University in Italy, the 2008 Ruth Crawford Mitchell Scholarship at the University of Pittsburgh in the United States, and the 2006 National Scholarship (MINERVA) Programme at Manchester Metropolitan University in the United Kingdom.
