  • Biography

    Dr. Rachelle Davey is a Senior Lecturer in the School of Education in Sydney, specialising in the fields of Literacy, equity in mathematics education, and the transition from university into classroom teaching. Her doctoral research, titled "Developing Mathematical Identities: Australian Children’s Gendered Constructs in the First Formal Year of School," was completed in 2022 and since then, Rachelle has published and presented at leading national conferences such as MERGA and AAMT.

    Beginning her teaching journey in 2000, Dr. Davey has an extensive background in primary teaching. Her expertise is enriched by her international experience, including teaching stints in London, and in both public and private schools across New South Wales. Over her 18-year tenure in primary education, she has held various roles ranging from classroom teacher to Assistant Principal.

    In her current academic role, Rachelle lectures in mathematics and English. She also coordinates the M.Teach Primary program and leads the national implementation at UNDA of the Graduate Teacher Performance Assessment (GTPA) for internship students.
