Dr Nadia Eldarrat Norrish

  • Biography

    Nadia has been with The University of Notre Dame Australia since 2015, starting her career in higher education as a clinical tutor, and is now both a lecturer and course coordinator in the areas of musculoskeletal physiotherapy, gender health, and clinical rehabilitation. She is also a practicing clinician, working as a senior physiotherapist in a local outpatient physiotherapy clinic.

    Nadia graduated from the University of Maryland in 2002, with a Bachelor of Science Degree (with Honours), with a specialisation in Neurobiology and Physiology. She then went on to complete a Doctor of Physiotherapy degree (DPT) at the University Of Miami, Florida, in the USA (with Honours). After graduation, Nadia worked in a specialised area of paediatric physiotherapy, at the world-renowned centre for spinal cord injury – the International Center for Spinal Cord Injury at Kennedy Krieger Institute in Baltimore, Maryland.

    Nadia's love of travel moved her on to work abroad as an outpatient physiotherapist in the Middle East, and then settled in Australia in 2009. Throughout her career, Nadia has worked as a senior physiotherapist in a variety of both inpatient and outpatient settings; including spinal cord injury rehabilitation and research, neurological rehabilitation, orthopaedics, manual therapy, women's health/maternity, and postnatal physiotherapy. Nadia's special interests are in the areas of gender health in a physiotherapy context, and cultural care and competency in allied health education and delivery.
