Biography
Brent holds a Bachelor of Arts and post-graduate Bachelor of Laws from the University of the Witwatersrand in South Africa, and a Diploma in Legal Practice from the University of Western Australia. He was admitted as a Solicitor and Conveyancer of the High Court in South Africa in 1999 and admitted to practice in NSW and WA in 2005.
Prior to immigrating to Perth Brent was employed by a prominent South African law firm before starting his own practice. He has been a sessional lecturer at the University of South Africa’s Allenby and Midrand II Campuses lecturing Forensic Jurisprudence, Commercial Law, Succession, Conveyancing & Notarial Practice, Labour Law, Tax and Legal Office Administration.
Brent was the state manager of a niche national law firm from 2005 to 2009 when he joined us. From 2009 to 2024 Brent maintained a specialist consultancy in Private Lending and Property Law which provided him ongoing practical anecdotes for his classes. After over 25 years as a solicitor Brent retired from practice in 2024 to provide him with more time to concentrate on his first love of teaching and to provide him more time to further develop his knowledge in the area of Sports Law.
Brent was the Assistant Dean of Students from 2012 to 2020, the National Head of School Delegate in 2021, the Campus Student Advisor from 2022-2024 and is the Deputy Program Director for Law since 2026.
Away from Law Brent is an accredited development netball coach and has been coaching since 2018.
