• Biography

  Amitav Saha is a recognised financial reporting expert and a senior lecturer in accounting at the University of Notre Dame Australia. He is a qualified Certified Practising Accountant and a Fellow of CPA Australia. He holds numerous undergraduate and postgraduate qualifications in accounting. Amitav completed his research studies and dissertation at the University of New South Wales.
  
  Amitav actively conducts practice-relevant accounting research, with particular focus on international accounting standards, sustainability, reporting transparency, corporate disclosures and accounting education. His scholarly work has appeared in several leading, A-rated journals in the accounting discipline, including Abacus, Accounting & Finance and the Journal of Contemporary Accounting and Economics. In 2020, Amitav received the Best Paper award from the American Accounting Association (AAA) for his work on enhancing graduate employability. His research on IFRS disclosure overload was selected by the International Accounting Standards Board for presentation at its prestigious annual 2018 research forum for an audience that included prominent academics and practitioners from around the globe. Amitav has also been awarded several internal and external competitive grants and has presented his research at national and international conferences across Australia, Europe and the US.
  
  Amitav is passionate about educating and developing future professionals and is proud to have been able to contribute to the journeys of many successful accounting graduates. He has more than a decade of experience in tertiary education and has taught a range of accounting courses. In 2015, he received the Vice Chancellor's Award for Teaching from the University of Notre Dame Australia for sustained excellence in teaching. Amitav also has an excellent track record in the areas of curriculum mapping and development, external accreditation management and course and program design.
  
  Amitav maintains a high level of professional engagement and actively contributes to the industry in various capacities. He currently serves on the Advisory Panel of the Australian Government’s Australian Accounting Standards Board as a subject matter expert on corporate disclosures. His various contributions to accounting discipline have been recognised by, CPA Australia, which awarded him the 2017 NSW President’s Award for Excellence.
