  • Biography

Jane completed her Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Anthropology at the University of Western Australia (UWA) in 2004. She has held research positions with UWA, WA Institute for Medical Research, and the Telethon Institute of Child Health Research. Jane also worked a Senior Social Consultant for several years, undertaking comprehensive socio-cultural and health profiling, social impact assessments, health impact assessments, and community investment evaluations for government departments and resource companies. One of Jane’s proudest roles was that of Associate Director of a not-for-profit organisation that she co-founded in 2012. Through this foundation, Jane helped launch and facilitate several community initiatives with at-risk youth groups throughout metropolitan and remote WA.

Jane has contributed to the design, implementation, and management of a number of key research projects, gaining experience collecting and analysing both qualitative and quantitative data. Her research experience includes the cross-cultural investigation of social rituals at the onset of mental illness; evaluation of vitamin D effect upon cognitive decline; and an examination into the interconnectedness of childhood obesity and type 2 diabetes. She was also involved in the assessment of a mindfulness program with acquired brain injury patients, and led the qualitative evaluation of an intensive mental health outreach program. During her time at Notre Dame, Jane has worked on a study exploring the delivery of aged care services in the Kimberley region during COVID-19, and is currently a Co-Investigator on a project examining general practitioners’ follow-up processes relating to the National Bowel Cancer Screening Program.
