  • Biography

Jess graduated from Curtin University with a Bachelor of Science; Nursing in 2001. After working in general areas at SJOG Subiaco for 3 years, Jess found that her passion was working in paediatrics and she began working at Princess Margaret Hospital where she obtained a Postgraduate Diploma in Paediatric Nursing in 2005. Jess continued to work at Princess Margaret Hospital for 9 years, mainly in PICU and currently works clinically in general paediatrics at Fiona Stanley Hospital.

Jess commenced work at The University of Notre Dame School of Nursing and Midwifery in 2020 as a tutor in Paediatric and Adolescent health. She is excited that teaching enables her to share her knowledge and love of paediatric nursing with future nurses. Jess also works as a clinical facilitator and most recently joined the Professional Practice Team as a lecturer and coordinator of Professional Practice 5. As a mentor and teacher, Jess feels it is important to create a positive, student-centred learning environment where students feel supported and encouraged to learn.

Professional development is an essential component of Jess's nursing practice as it allows her to evaluate and continually improve her practice. She is currently mid-way through her Graduate Certificate in Teaching and Learning (Higher Education) through UNDA.
