  • Foundational Civil Coursework Programs

    Bachelor of Divinity

    Students in the Bachelor of Divinity are encouraged to begin with 1000-level course units in the Humanities (Philosophy, Church History, and Ancient Languages) before proceeding to undertake electives in Sacred Scripture (Old and New Testament Studies) and Theology (Dogmatic, Moral, and Spiritual). Students might then pursue electives in Pastoral Studies (Liturgy, Canon Law, and Pastoral Theology and Ministry) in the latter stages of the degree.

    Students are encouraged to read the Program Regulations and consult with the Academic Dean or Registry and Student Support Officer prior to enrolling in courses to ensure that pre-requisites have been met and the course is the right choice for you.     Master of Divinity

  • Advanced Civil Coursework Programs

    Graduate Certificate in the Practice of Ministry

    Students in this program should initially enrol into CISP5110 Introduction to Pastoral Care and Psychology. In subsequent semesters, students must complete CISP5260 Supervised Ministry Practicum and Integrity in Ministry in addition to two electives in Pastoral Theology and Ministry. Please note that this program can only be studied part-time and must be commenced in Semester 2 of the academic year.

    Master of Theology        

    Advanced (Research) Stream

    Students in this stream should select CIS 6000-level courses in the discipline of research, and complete eight (8) such courses in total before proceeding to the research component of the program. Where no prior equivalent course has been studied, certain 5000-level electives in languages or another relevant discipline may be chosen in consultation with the Academic Dean. Specialisation is not available in all disciplines.

    Practice of Ministry Stream

    Students in this stream should select CIS 5000- or 6000-level courses in Pastoral Theology, and complete eight (8) such courses in total before proceeding to the research component of the program. Where no prior equivalent course has been studied, certain electives in Spirituality may be chosen in consultation with the Academic Dean.

    General Studies Stream

    Students in this stream should select CIS 6000-level courses. At least ten (10) such courses must be completed before proceeding to the optional research component of the program. Where no prior equivalent course has been studied, certain 5000-level electives in languages or another relevant discipline may be chosen in consultation with the Academic Dean.

    Master of Sacred Theology

    Students in this program should select CIS 6000-level courses, and complete eight (8) such electives in total—four (4) to six (6) in the discipline of specialisation plus two (2) to four (4) outside this discipline—before proceeding to the research component of the program. Course substitutions are not permitted in this program. Specialisations are currently available in Sacred Scripture and Dogmatic Theology.

  • Civil Research Program

    Doctor of Theology

    Candidates for the Doctor of Theology must undertake supervised research courses (CISR7XXX) in accordance with their enrolment load, to be determined in consultation with their primary supervisor, who is their first point of contact in relation to their thesis. Course substitutions are not permitted in this program, though candidates may be asked to undertake further coursework in facilitation of their anticipated research.
