Biography
Ann-Marie Blanchard is a multidisciplinary educator who lectures in Philosophy on the Fremantle campus. As a creative writer with a passion for philosophy, Ann-Marie believes in “the life-giving power of literature” (Maya Angelou). A native of east coast Australia, Ann-Marie earned her Master of Fine Arts in Fiction Writing from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro and her PhD in English with a concentration in Creative Writing from the University of Wisconsin–Milwaukee.
During her decade of living in the United States, Ann-Marie directed a Liberal Arts program at Franciscan Missionaries of Our Lady University in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. The course celebrated a diverse range of literature, philosophy and theology from across the globe. Her teaching specialties include creative writing, the philosophy of literature, aesthetics, and postcolonial studies.
As a poet and fiction writer, Ann-Marie examines topics of embodiment, risk, addiction, and faith. In 2022 she won The Missouri Review Editors’ Prize in Fiction.
