Professor Isabell Naumann

Professor Ordinarius for Systematic Theology, Catholic Institute of Sydney, and Distinguished Professor of Theology, University of Notre Dame, Australia. Having lectured in the USA, Philippines, Taiwan, Uganda, Spain, Italy and Germany, I serve on various national and international academic boards and councils including two terms at the Pontifical Council for Culture, Rome.

For eleven years, I was Academic Dean of Studies at the Seminary of the Good Shepherd, Sydney and Professor of Systematic Theology at the Catholic Institute of Sydney. From 2018 until the beginning of 2025, President of the Ecclesiastical Faculty of Theology, the Catholic Institute of Sydney. Since 2025 Special Advisor to the Vice Chancellor of the University of Notre Dame, Australia.

Current professional Memberships include the International Theological Commission, Rome, Italy; the Pontifical International Marian Academy, Rome, Italy; the Catholic Theological Society of America, Washington, DC, USA; the European Society for Catholic Theology, Louvain, Belgium; Founding Member of the Asia-Oceania Mariological Conference, Philippines; the Australian Catholic Theological Association, Sydney, Australia; Theological Commission for the 2028 International Eucharistic Congress, Sydney.

I am a member of the Secular Institute of the Schoenstatt Sisters of Mary where I hold the position of province leader for Australia and the Philippines.

  Ecclesiology, Marian Studies, Theological Anthropology, Theological Hermeneutics. Specializing in the area of correlation between ecclesiology, theological anthropology and Marian studies with publications in these areas.
