  • Biography

    Chris is the Professional Practice Coordinator and Senior Lecturer in the School of Nursing and Midwifery. Chris has been nursing since 1993 and continues to work clinically in the Post Anaesthetic Care unit at Fiona Stanley Hospital. Chris has experience in many specialty areas of nursing including, hyperbaric nursing, sexual and reproductive health, urology, ENT and plastics. Chris has worked in London in many varied roles, including ED/HDU, gender reassignment, plastic surgery and sexual health. Chris worked as a sessional Clinical Facilitator for The University of Notre Dame from 2010 and joined the Clinical Placements Team in February 2013. Prior to this she was a Clinical Liaison and Support Professional for Curtin University’s semester 7 nursing students. Chris is passionate about preparing and supporting students for professional experience placements and supporting and educating the staff who will supervise them.  Chris also enjoys working with colleagues across Faculty to incorporate interprofessional learning opportunities for students, into curriculum.  Chris completed her Master of Nursing by research in 2018.

  • Teaching areas

    Third year professional practice courses, Clinical Facilitator education sessions on campus, Health care provider clinical facilitator education, preceptorship and clinical assessment sessions as required, Tutor NURS3028 Transition to Practice 2.

  • Research expertise and supervision

    Completed Master of Nursing (Research) using mixed method design. Collaborative research with Interprofessional Colleagues from School of Medicine, School of Physio and School of Nursing and Midwifery, to implement an on campus workshop to improve student understanding of Interprofessional roles and perceptions of teamwork.  Publication from this project:
