  • Biography

    Sheena has over fourteen years of teaching experience at The University of Notre Dame Australia. Within this time period, Sheena has taught in the Bachelor of Nursing as well as in the Graduate Diploma of Midwifery. Sheena participated in the development of the Graduate Diploma of Midwifery and the two re-accreditations of this degree, and was the Program Coordinator for eight years.

    Sheena's clinical nursing and midwifery expertise is obtained through senior positions in various public and private organisations and health facilities in South Africa, New Zealand and Australia, in metropolitan and rural or remote areas.

    Sheena is a midwife assessor for the Australian Nursing and Midwifery Accreditation Council.

    Sheena has a PhD from Murdoch University. Her main research interest is feminist explorations of women's health.

    • Midwifery; feminist and social justice explorations of women's health.
    • Perimenopause - a short course for nurses and midwives.
  • Research expertise and supervision

    • Sheena's PhD is a feminist exploration of women's experiences of perimenopause. She used van Manen (2014) to guide her phenomenological approach.
    • Her main research interest is any feminist and social justice explorations of women's health issues.
    • Sheena is currently supervising a PhD student and a Master of Nursing Research student.
