Research Interests and Current Projects:
Dr McCarthy's research interests lie in the area of differential and discrete geometry.
He is currently a member of a project looking at the discretisation of Projective Minimal Surface theory as well as investigating the deformation theory of flat tori in the 3-sphere.
He is also part of a group looking at mathematical education in high schools and in particular the retraining of out-of-field mathematics teachers.
