The Honourable Justice Geoffrey Bellew

  • Biography

    Justice Bellew attended Marist Brothers North Shore and was school captain in his Higher School Certificate Year of 1977. He was admitted to practice as a Solicitor in 1983, admitted to the NSW Bar in 1991, appointed Senior Counsel for the State of NSW in 2006, and sworn in as a Judge of the Supreme Court of NSW in 2012. Whilst at the Bar, his Honour practiced extensively in the criminal jurisdiction and appeared regularly in all states of Australia on behalf of the Commonwealth Director of Public Prosecutions at first instance, in intermediate Courts of Appeal, and in the High Court. His Honour also had an extensive civil practice, and appeared regularly for professional and amateur sports persons in disciplinary tribunals, as well as in the Court of Arbitration for Sport. His Honour sits in the Common Law Division of the Supreme Court of NSW, as well as in the Court of Criminal Appeal.
