Respect.Now.Always

The University of Notre Dame Australia does not tolerate sexual assault, sexual harassment, or any form of gender-based violence. We are deeply committed to fostering a safe, respectful and inclusive environment where every member of our university community feels supported and valued.

Notre Dame is proud to stand with all Australian universities, as part of Universities Australia, Respect. Now. Always. initiative—a national campaign aimed at preventing and responding to sexual assault and sexual harassment within higher education. The initiative raises awareness about the drivers for sexual violence, including sexual assault and sexual harassment and aims to ensure that support services for those affected are accessible, appropriate and responsive.

National Student Safety Survey (NSSS)

In September and October 2021, 10,000 Notre Dame students were invited to take part in the National Student Safety Survey (NSSS), conducted by the Social Research Centre on behalf of Universities Australia. The survey explored student safety and wellbeing, with a particular focus on experiences of sexual assault, sexual harassment and related forms of gender-based violence.

Prevention and response

At Notre Dame, we recognise that preventing and responding to sexual assault, sexual harassment and all forms of gender-based violence requires ongoing commitment, education and action. We continue to build awareness, strengthen prevention strategies and improve our support systems for students and employees who have experienced sexual assault, sexual harassment, or gender-based violence.
