Semester 1 Calendar

  • Student and staff gym

    Our Student/Staff Gym provides a competitively priced, convenient facility to remain physically and mentally active on campus.

    Our facility is clean, flexible, and functional in design with high ceilings flooded with natural light, making it the ultimate wellness haven.

    Open 6am-10pm on weekdays and 7am-5pm on weekends, you’ll enjoy high-quality fitness equipment including:

    • Jim Bradley boxing punching bags
    • Aerobic machines – treadmill, exercise bikes, rowing machine
    • Weight machines – cable machine, torsonator, leg press
    • Free weights – IronEdge bumper plates and bars, racks, dumbbells

    Payment instructions will be provided at your induction session. All new members, including students and staff, are required to complete an induction session. You’ll need to sign a membership form and pre-medical form prior to joining the gym.

    On completion of the induction and after receipt of payment, your membership card will be available for collection and your access will be activated.

  • On-campus fitness classes

    We offer free on-campus fitness classes for students looking to improve their overall wellbeing (physical and mental).

    Where: ND49 (Customs House), room attached to Staff and Student Gym.
    Cost: Free for all UNDA Students (simply fill out the waiver form and bring a Student card to each session). $100 for a 10-week program for UNDA Staff.

    • UNDAMoves (Rewards for Getting Active)
      • Moves+Linking your wearable fitness tracker to Open Play’s “Moves+” application, you can gain access to ND Moves. This initiative will reward UNDA students for logging walking, running, swimming and cycling fitness progress. Rewards given away include University merchandise, local vouchers and giveaways. Full details available on app.

  • Social sports

    Participating in social sport at Notre Dame is a great way to stay healthy while having fun and connecting with friends. All sports are mixed gender and place a priority on being a fun environment first, not the Olympics.

    We offer a range of social sports on campus, including:

    Mixed Volleyball

    • Day: Wednesday
      Time: 4:45pm till 8:15pm
      Dates: Week 3-12

      Team Requirements: minimum of 8 per team, with at least 50% being UNDA students, and all teams must be mixed.

    Mixed Netball

    • Day: Tuesday
      Time: 4:45pm till 8:15pm

    Mixed Indoor Soccer (Futsal)

    Mixed Multi Sport

    • Day: Monday
      Time: 4:45pm till 8:15pm
      Dates: Weeks 4-13
      March 11, 18, 25. April 8, 15, 22, 29. May 6, 13, 20.
      Team Requirements: minimum of 6 per team, with at least 50%
      being UNDA students, and all teams must be mixed.
    • Multi-Sport has you competing in the same team each week like other social sport competitions, however each week the sport being played changes. Semester 1 will include sports like Dodgeball, Floorball, 3v3 Basketball, Netball and more.

    Cost

    • $200 per team for the semester (per sport) – due 2nd week of competition. If joining as an individual you will be placed in a team, and the team will required to pay the entry fee in the 2nd week of competition.

Semester 1 Calendar

  • Participation sports

    Participation in sports is a great way to keep healthy and have fun with friends at the same time.

    We offer a range of options including:

    • Courtyard sport
      Drop into the Broadway courtyard during the week to have a hit of badminton, pickleball, Spikeball, shoot hoops, play ping pong, or try your hand at garden games.
    • Learn2Surf
      Join other Notre Dame students for a day at Bondi Beach and Learn to surf. Keep an eye on dates for Sem 1 & 2.
    • Harbour Walk
      Join other Notre Dame students for a morning walk and sightseeing along the Harbour and Botanic Gardens, followed by lunch by the water.

    • City2Surf
      Be part of the Notre Dame City2Surf team and experience the thrill of running in Sydney’s iconic annual fun-run. Mark your calendars for August 11, 2024.
    • The Gift
      Bragging rights are on the line in Semester 2! We will be running an afternoon gaming competition that pitches school versus school. Competing in a series of sporting and activity-based challenges, which school team (compromised of students and staff) will walk away with the shield.
    • UTS Gym Membership
      Keep fit during the semester by joining the UTS gym with classes for all levels, fully equipped gym and shower facilities so you can sweat it out in between classes. Gym memberships start from as low as $20.95.
    • Hyrox PFT @ UTS
      HYROX is the fitness sport taking the world by storm and this is your chance to try it at UTS! Join us every Wednesday as we train to get ready for the big event on Wednesday March 20th. Each Wednesday, our instructor will help you work up a sweat as you get ready for the PFT challenge day on March 20th.
  • Lunchtime social sports

    Each semester, we enter teams in local lunchtime competitions.

    Just a short walk from the Broadway campus, it is mixed, social, fun, and FREE.

    Games take place between 12-2pm and 6pm-10pm Tuesday – Friday, so if you have a free period join up! Here are the sports being offered this semester:

    Yoga

    Come and learn about posture and correct body alignment. This class is suitable for all levels of experience. This beginner’s level class is a great introduction to the world of Yoga, with scope to grow.

    ND Run Club - Wednesday

    Ready to hit the ground running? Whether you're a seasoned marathoner or just lacing up for the first time, our University Run Club welcomes you! Dive into a community that's all about encouraging each other, achieving personal bests, and discovering the joy of running. From scenic jogs near campus, we've got something for everyone.

Representative sporting competitions present an opportunity for Aussie uni students to compete head-to-head in several national standard sporting competitions.

Elite athlete program

Did you know… Notre Dame forms part of the Elite Athlete Friendly University (EAFU) Network, committed to supporting Australia’s elite athletes to achieve academic excellence whilst pursuing a sporting career.

Eligible elite athletes can negotiate their study and assessment options or explore any flexible studies arrangement in the course of their university degree.

An elite athlete or coach is identified and recognised, or is a member of one of the following organisations:

  • Australian Cricketers’ Association
  • Australian Institute of Sport
  • Australian Professional Footballers’ Association
  • National squad members from Australian Sports Commission recognised sports
