Deferred Assessment (excluding final examinations)

In circumstances where illness or other exceptional personal circumstances have seriously impaired a Student’s performance, the Student may apply for a deferred assessment. This application does not apply to deferral of final examinations.

  • General information

    Please submit this application no later than 3 working days after the due date of submission. Applications lodged after that date shall not be considered.

    If the application is made on medical grounds, you will be required to submit a Certification of Health professional or a medical certificate with this application.

    If the application is made on non-medical grounds, you will be required to supply additional evidence as the university considers appropriate in the circumstances.

    If the application is for a timed assessment such as a mid-semester test, a University Statutory Declaration must be completed and submitted with your application.

    You are required to check your Notre Dame student email account on a weekly basis. Advice on this application will be sent only to your Notre Dame email account.

    It is your responsibility to ensure you are aware of the decision of this application AND the updated date/s and time/s assessments are due if your application is approved.

    Where appropriate, students may be referred to additional support services including but not limited to student counselling services, course counselling, student study centre or pastoral care. Students may be required to attend such services as a condition of a deferred assessment approval.
